About Belvedere Palace
Part of the Belvedere palace complex, this splendid Baroque palace is well worth a visit for its architectural and aesthetic value alone. It was designed by Lukas von Hildebrandt in the late Baroque style. The construction was quite speedy, it only took 6 years for the palace to reach completion in 1723. However, it is inside the palace that you will find Upper Belvedere’s greatest treasure: a magnificent collection of paintings by master painters like Klimt or Van Gogh. Today, Upper Belvedere showcases the largest collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt in the world. There are 24 paintings altogether, including the world-famous Kiss. That is not all, however. You can also admire works by other major painters, such as Monet, Manet or Renoir here.
